What is Semen Cassiae?

Semen Cassiae is the legumes of the seeds of Cassia. In the prescription, jue ming zi is often called the seed cassia. Semen Cassiae is beneficial to embellish bowel defecation, reduce fat and improve eyesight, treatment of constipation and high blood fat, hypertension. Semen Cassiae also can clear liver and improve eyes, relieve constipation, reduce blood pressure and blood lipid. Semen Cassiae is rich in chrysophanol, emodin, casein and other components, with antihypertensive, antibacterial and cholesterol-lowering effects, which has a high medicinal value. The plant is mainly produced in Sichuan, Anhui, Guangxi, Zhejiang and so on. Cassia plant also is planted in the southern region of Yangtze River.
